Reforestation Program

At Tropicalia Tours and Transportation, we take seriously our Social Corporate Responsibility, and that´s why we are making efforts to mitigate our carbon footprint.

Worldwide, the average person produces about four tons of carbon dioxide each year and it takes about 400 trees to absorb all of it. Our Mission is to do our part and help others to take action against climate change by providing a long-term solution as it is to plant trees.

Our program’s vision involves 1 tree planted for each booking we get, and we commit to replanting all of the trees that don´t make it the first year. The trees are germinated and taken care of at the nursery of the Tropicalia Farm, located outside of Liberia City. Then the farm staff prepares the different areas where the reforestation is taking place along the river banks and hills in need of forest covering. The land where we are doing the reforestation is protected by the Costa Rican forest law #7575.

From the moment we put the seed to germinate, the preparation of the land, and until the tree is strong enough to survive by itself, the operation cost is about $10 to $15 per tree.

Donations take also an important part in this Project since our main way to sponsor this activity fluctuates with the tourism seasons.

Feel free to contact us if you or your organization want to be part of this.

Testimonials

Great tour by knowledgeable locals

I planned my first trip to Costa Rica with my young adult daughter. The tour was easily planned and organized with Dixon before we got there. Since they offer both airport transfers as well as tours, we were able to keep our same guide throughout. We met our guide Pablo at the airport. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the island.

On day two, we were up early and ready to go see some local animals on the riverboat tour. Even on the way there, Pablo was aware of where we could find all the animals and stopped and patiently allowed us to take pictures in our touristy way!

After the tour, we were treated to a delicious lunch at a local restaurant with the freshest and most delicious foods

During day two, we decided to make some changes to our day three plans. It was easily done and Pablo offered some great suggestions for where we could go, depending on what I wanted to do. I was so impressed that he got around the island without a map or GPS even with the changes to our itinerary.

Pablo was ready on time again for our return to the airport I’m still active as a guide the entire way there. Will definitely use it again.

Thank you for showing us beautiful Costa Rica! Pura Vida

Awesome trip!!!!

We have been to Costa Rica twice in the past four years, and one of the young men that started this business was our tour guide and translator both times. We went to Cañas both years for a mission trip. Dixon was an AWESOME guide, translator, and an even better friend, a friendship that is ongoing still, overseas! He was very knowledgeable about the plants, birds, and culture of Costa Rica. He always had an in-depth answer to any questions we had. He was also our translator, as all of us spoke English. There were no communication issues, as he allowed for a solid communication bridge to be built. He is not only fluent in English and Spanish, but also German! Overall, he honestly made our trips, as it wouldn't have been the same without him! Highly recommend this company!
